Alhamdulillah COVID cases have been dropping in the NYC area, and there have been no reported cases among our community during and since Ramadan. Given this, and the fact that vaccination rates have been increasing and NYC is opening more over the summer, NYCMC has decided to make changes to our COVID protocol. We will be ceasing our social distancing policy in the prayers, but all congregants will still need to wear masks, regardless of vaccination status.
There will be accommodations for people who wish to continue to social distance in the prayers inshaa Allah.
May Allah accept our intention to maintain the Sunnah of standing feet to feet, and shoulder and shoulder, and keep our community safe. Ameen.
Starting this Friday, 6/4/21, there will be only one Jummah prayer. Brothers are in the main prayer and tent areas. Sisters are in the balcony.
Starting this Friday, 4/16/21, all three Jummah prayers are also open for sisters. No registration needed.
Note: Due to a limited space, we can't guarantee that everybody will fit in the sister prayer area. First come first serve.
All 5 daily prayers are back. Open for brothers and sisters.
You don't need to register to come to Masjid 'Eesa's Jummah prayer anymore. Friday, 3/26 will be the last time you need to show your Jummah ID cards. Thank you for your cooperation and may Allah keep us safe.

'Eid al Adha Prayer
Masjid ‘Eesa ibn Maryam will not be holding Eid prayers for Eid-ul-Adha, nor opening for five daily prayers at this time. As cases of COVID-19 continue to increase in other parts of the country as their economies fully reopened, NYCMC wants to ensure the safety of our community and thus, will reopen fully and completely when there is a greater assurance of safety for all members of our community.
We hope all of you are safe and in good health. At NYCMC, the health of our community and preservation of life is our utmost priority. As such, we will continue to remain closed for both daily prayers and Friday prayers. As cases of COVID-19 rise around the country, even those in the medical community are unclear if NYC will face another spike of cases in the near future. We aim to open when there is a higher certainty that the safety of all our community members will be better ensured. May Allah keep us all safe.
We are in an unprecedented situation, and it’s vital that we balance opening the masjid with the safety of our community.
Despite the curve flattening overall in NYC, there are still new active cases being diagnosed daily. Many new cases are coming from Queens: Hollis is in the top 15% of zip codes with highest deaths in NYC, and in the top 12% of total COVID cases in NYC.
Of note, COVID has had a higher impact on people older than 45 years of age, and many in our community are in this age group.
As such, it’s crucial that social distancing be continued as the NY economy starts to open on June 8th. People infected with COVID can take two weeks to manifest symptoms, and there is concern for a second wave of infections once the economy starts and continues to open, which may start to become evident later in June.
